Following the Mass, students enjoyed a concert in the park and heard from recent graduates at the Young Speakers Colloquium.

Parade College, Bundoora, hosted its second ‘Road to Reconciliation’ as part of National Reconciliation Week in 2018. The event aims to raise awareness of Aboriginal history and culture, and to consider where schools and society are at in relation to the reconciliation journey.
The Parade community was joined by students and staff from other Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) schools: St Joseph’s College, Newtown, St Kevin’s College, Toorak, and St Patrick’s College, Ballarat, as well as Mercy College, Coburg, St Pius X School, Heidelberg West, and Santa Maria College, Northcote.
Aquinas College, Ringwood, again hosted one of Melbourne’s largest events to promote Aboriginal reconciliation – the ‘Long Walk’. The Aquinas community, along with guests from surrounding primary and secondary schools, as well as organisations like Caritas Australia and Catholic Mission, walked in solidarity to support the incredible efforts of Michael Long in acknowledging reconciliation for Australia’s Indigenous people.
The Aquinas Long Walk is a powerful symbol of the college’s commitment to reconciliation between black and white Australia.

Not only was this the first visit to St John’s for Archbishop Peter A Comensoli, but also his first school visit anywhere since being appointed the Archbishop of Melbourne.
